The top 8 myths of Early Math

Myth 3: Teaching your baby math is a big commitment.

Until recently, this was not really a myth. Flashing cards six or nine times a day, as recommended by some proponents of early math lessons, requires a phenomenal commitment on the part of any parent. For working parents, it is downright impossible to do.

A great deal of preparation time has also been involved, traditionally. Parents would need to figure out which equations to show on which days, and keep track of what had been shown when.

Luckily there are now math programs for babies that are designed to be used just twice a day - a frequency most parents can achieve. Some, like BrillKids' Little Math Learning System, even give parents the weekend off!

Little Math's 6- and 12-month curricula come with two preprogramed lessons daily. You can also download unlimited free lesson materials from the BrillKids Forum. All you do when it's time for a lesson is sit down at the computer with your child, and press play!
