We are not saying that you should not play with your child, or goof around with your child.
We are not saying that you should make it your main aim to teach your child certain skills within a certain timeframe.
We are not saying that you should test your child by asking, say, “What’s 2 + 2?” Show your child the solution to an equation, or at most, ask her to choose from two or three possible solutions.
What we are saying:
We are saying that children can and should be taught math as babies, and that children would benefit from preschool math lessons.
We are recommending that parents spend a little time each day teaching their child mathematics. In doing so, we suggest that they make the most of all the tools and advice at their disposal.
We are hoping that parents everywhere will take the time to bond with their children while enjoying the experience of teaching and learning math.
